ANIMAL MAGIC
The talented writers in Room 3 have done it again! This time we celebrate our talents by sharing descriptions of animals we have chosen. We are using PASSAMOA really well - if you don't know what this is - ask your kids. Well done Room 3 and keep on being great learners. I'm proud of you.
JAGUAR BY SOPHIA
“Grrr!” I roared as
loud and angry as an elephant in a stampede. My eyes were pools of amethyst
swirling in a crystal void. My claws were diamond shards. My spots were
obsidian sitting on amber because a volcano had erupted; geysers in the swamp
land erupting with bursts of mud and lave.
I soared vigorously
from tree to tree with powerful pounces. When I landed by a swamp I dug my
dagger claws into the mud for balance.
My tail was a fishing
rod waving over the fish. Splash! Suddenly a piranha jumped up and bit my tail!
“Piranha for lunch” I growled. I ate it and found a comfy branch to sleep on
and then I dozed off to sleep. The taste of the piranha in my mouth was like
stinky blue cheese, but I loved it.
WOLF BY JACQUIE
I stumbled over a
fallen tree but managed to keep my balance. Up ahead I saw an oak tree that I
could climb to get away from the wolves that were pursuing me. Suddenly, I
tripped. The wolves had almost caught up and then I saw it.
Its wild red eyes
burned into me. I could feel its hatred. It gave me a fierce look as if to say
“Don’t even think about it” and I don’t know why, but I just stopped thinking
about escaping at all. I stared into its challenging eyes and shivered.
Its dark grey coat
rippled in the breeze like a ribbon in the wind. Its coat, wiry and coarse,
like a rope.
DOLPHIN BY LUCAS
A silky black figure
emerges from behind a rock that has more holes than Swiss cheese. It’s glossy,
black tail waves up and down as the shiny figure glides through the water. It moves
like rolling hills on a blue sunset. The figure glides gracefully round a
corner and into the coral reef beyond. His pointed nose curves around to let
him be aerodynamic. His body swerves around never to be seen again.
WOLF BY MOLLY
A low shaggy beast
comes prowling through the sea of fog like a shark waiting to bite a surfer in
the harbour. Its long red fangs are like swords threatening anyone and anything
in sight. Its ears prick up like dangerous snowy mountains. Its nose is like a
wet piece of coal and its sapphire eyes are like a freezing lake. It lifts up
its head and makes an echoing howl as the purple eclipse moon shines like a
mysterious twilight.
Its long grey fur is
like a polluted river of daggers. The howling wind brushes down its back like
witches’ nails. His grey and white fur is soft and sticky like a dead sheep
covered in blood. The smell wafts like an aeroplane crash landing in my
nostrils. As it prowls further up the mountain it howls out like a fog horn.
OWL BY EMILY
Yellow eyes watch
carefully as the forest grown dark. The owl’s sharp beak opens and shuts as
bugs fly past. Her silky, silvery, soft fur shines in the deep, dark forest.
Her hoots are as loud as a lion roaring. Black spots are dotted over her body.
It’s really fluffy. Crash! It lands in a tree. She smells like roses and flies
as fast as a dragon. She is soft as a kitten.
DOLPHIN BY ELLA
FRASER
Whoosh! The shiny,
sapphire blue dolphin soars wildly through the waves like a bullet at top
speed. She has shiny eyes like dazzling diamonds shimmering in the sun. She is
a cheetah zooming through the jungle to catch prey. Her tail is a spade digging
into the waves. It slaps as it glides along and swishes like a skirt.
Her teeth are sharp
and white like an upside down ice cream at a sunny beach and her eyes are
little pink sea shells waiting to be collected.
Click! Click! The
dolphin sounds like two knitting needles clanking together as she twists like a
screw through the water.
SNAKE BY REAGAN
I am black and yellow
and I like other animals. I have a long tongue and I am so long. My favourite
food is rat. I have sharp teeth. I live in Australia. I can go hunting at
night. At night I can glow. Ssssssss! I wonder what I am going to do now?
DOG BY ELLA FORBES
My dog is as soft as
a pillow and she is cute as a little bunny. Her eyes are as brown as mud. Her
fur is as black as the midnight sky and as brown as chocolate. She smells dirty
most of the time but not always. When she barks, it is loud but she mostly just
barks at the neighbour’s dog. When someone makes a noise her ears go up quickly
like the tops of sharp knives.
WOLF BY RUBY
Aww! The beast howls
at the glimmering moon. His fur is clouds, as soft as a pillow. His teeth are
sharp and are as pointy as knives. He prowls around slowly stalking his prey
and licking his dark doomy lips. He is fast and fearless. It is silent until he
hears something moving around in the bush. He feels his heart skip a beat. He
smells his midnight snack. He sprints and dives into the bushes. Snap! Mission
completed. He enjoys tasting every bloody and furry mouthful. The trees shiver
with fear around him wondering what he will do next.
OWL BY WINNIE
The owl glides
gracefully through the ghostly black night. It swoops down to land on a branch.
Its sharp claws are as sharp as the jagged edges of lightning as it streaks
through the sky. The owl’s tooth is a tooth off a lion prowling and hunting all
night. It’s a ghostly white, flapping, flying and flaming through the night
sky. The wings float in the sky as its spooky bright eyes keep looking for its
enemies and prey. Sunrise comes. Blue, pink, orange, red, yellow and turquoise
colours fill the air. The owl rushes back home to sleep, but it will come out
again tonight. BEWARE!
SNAKE BY SOPHIE
The slithering snake
likes to go down the slide. The scales on his back are like a rainbow fish. As
he slithers through the grass and up the tree it looks like a ride. The trees
are waving and brushing up and down. His eyes are a shimmering diamond in the
sky.
DOLPHN BY ELEXIS
I was swimming around
when I came across a nice friendly dolphin. The fins were splashing and the
skin was blue mixed with grey. I reached out my hand. The clever dolphin glided
across my hand. It was so smooth. I looked away for a second and it vanished. I
swam down to the rocky shore. The friendly dolphin was there, wiggling like a
wiggly worm. His eyes were round like a ball and blue and shimmering like the
deep, blue sea. Splash! Away it swan like a mermaid, deep, deep into the deep,
dark blue sea,
MONKEY BY AIMEE
Oh! Oh! Ah! Ah! I am
a monkey. I am brown all over with a white patch on my belly. I am nice and
sneaky. I love to swing on trees. I like to eat bananas. I like to sleep in a
pile of leaves on the ground. I like to drink water from the lagoon and I need
to go there now to get away from all this talking I’ve done. Oh! Oh! Ah! Ah!
SNAKE BY NOAH
Hissssss! I can see a
snake slithering slowly through the grass. The patterns on its body are
hypnotizing. The swirls look like they go on forever. Its zig zags are
mountains on its body. Its colours are yellow, orange, red and green.
LION BY PHOEBE
The lion is as big as
a leopard. I touch the lion’s mane. It is soft and thick. Roar! Roar! It is as
loud as a volcano erupting. The lion is standing proud and tall. It starts to
dig and dusty dirt comes out of the ground.
SNAKE BY DYLLIN
Suddenly I saw ruby
red fiery eyes staring at me. I stumbled. I saw a long tongue staying really
still in his mouth. He tried to bite my leg. His bright skin was the hot
burning sun. Its red spots were like the hot lava. His red ruby fiery eyes are
a breezy wave in the blue sea. SSSSSSSSS!
OWL BY ADRIANNA
The misty air tip
toes to the East. The owl glides through the misty air like a tennis ball that
has been hit with a big whack. The owl floats down from a cold tree like a
leaf. His claws are like knives on a fur ball. The owl’s wings are old leaves
all together like a big fan. His head is a bowling ball with eyes.
DOLPHIN BY AVA
Splash! Splash! The
water is deep, deep, sparkly blue. Spit! Splash! Something is coming in. It’s a
purple, pink colour on its body with a blue fin and tail. The dolphin makes an
echo noise like a chainsaw. It is big like a person lying down on the ground. I
think it would be about a meter.
TORTOISE BY ISABELLA
The tortoise is as
slow as a snail. It carries its home on its back. “Wait for me!” says the
tortoise. He gets so tired that he has to sleep in the little home he carries
on his back. On the outside they have octagons in a repeating pattern over and
over. His little green feet move slowly. His eyes are blue. His face is green
too.
SNAKE BY HAMISH
A camouflaged,
slithery, slimy snake side-winded along. Its tongue was like tree roots. Its
beady eyes were twinkly cats’ eyes with patchy spots. It slickly, slithered
south, soundlessly. Suddenly it struck a tree root and sunk its fangs of blood
into a helpless soul.
SNAKE BY PERRY
Its hyper venomous
body is covered in dry, scaly skin and venom that can kill an elephant. He is
seventy foot long. He eats a buffalo every hour. He is a ninja.
LION BY ZAVANNAH
Roar! He is as loud
as a drum and a firework mixed together. His teeth are as white as paper and as
sharp as a knife. He is yellow like the sun. The leaf is a hawk flying through
the air to attack me, because the lion’s terrifying breath is on it. The tree
is smiling as it watches the leaf.
SNAKE BY ALEX
Sssssssssss! There is
a green cobra. It slithers like a slippery sausage sliding towards me. I move
back quickly, but the snake speeds up. I quickly climb a tree – oh yeah, there
is no tree or place to climb to. Will I survive?
DOG BY CHARLIE
Splish! Splash! I was
trying to wash my dog, but he kept escaping from me. I looked at my black and
white spotted dog. The water was still staring straight at us. His ears were as
floppy as a flag, but his teeth were as sharp as knives.
SNAKE BY LUKE
It is as scaly as a
dragon, but is not one. Its red eyes look into your soul and fill it with fear.
It will strike you with its deadly venom that can kill a cow. It’s a viper!
JAGUAR BY REIDER
In the middle of the
night at the river, a jaguar lies slowly moving his tail in the water. Snap!
The jaguar gracefully pounces at the fish. The jaguar was creeping like a
sneaky bird flying through the sky. It climbed up to his home with watchful
eyes. The teeth crunched on the fish like timber crashing to the ground.
PANDA BY VADIM
One day I walked into
the forest of bamboo and saw a lot of pandas. They climbed down a bamboo tree.
I touched it and it was fluffier than anything in the world.
